This adventure-filled workshop is designed for photo enthusiasts who want to capture the stunning landscapes of Iceland while embracing modern mirrorless cameras and cutting edge, mobile editing techniques on iPads and iPhones.
This workshop is open to all photographers shooting with mirrorless cameras. You already love the reduced weight and bulk; now learn how to get the most from your mirrorless camera while learning a how to organize, edit and stylize your images on your iPad or iPhone. It’s the best of both worlds!
Cameras with built-in WiFi are best for sending your images to your iPad or iPhone for editing but — worry not — even non-WiFi equipped shooters will be thrilled at the ease and creative freedom that comes with editing on your iPad or iPhone. Feel free to bring a laptop, but our focus will be editing on our iOS devices with the latest, powerful apps from Adobe and other cutting edge software developers. Our mantra is one of traveling light, learning a modern mobile workflow and having fun with inexpensive apps, all in the wonderland of Iceland. With our time split between in-the-field shooting and classroom demos, you’ll gain a new confidence with your travel shooting and your image editing.
In the field you’ll learn new techniques for shooting in any condition or light, getting the most from your camera lenses. Afterhours critique sessions will guide you to better post-processing decisions to make your final photos reflect your personal creative flair. Dan’s “diagnose and treat” approach to image editing will open creative doors as you learn how to quickly and efficiently take your image from typical to terrific.
Dan and the workshop team will guide you through the possibilities that will turn these new photographic tools into your best friends. About the Instructor
Dan Burkholder has a long history of looking beyond the photographic horizon to see, explore, teach and exhibit the next great thing in imaging. His new book, iPhone Artistry (Pixiq Press, 2012), is the universe’s most comprehensive and fun how-to book for iPhone photographers. His poignant monograph, The Color of Loss (University of Texas Press, 2008), intimately documented the flooded interiors of post-Katrina New Orleans. Dan’s book Making Digital Negatives for Contact Printing blended classic and digital methods and became a standard resource in the fine-art photography community.
Dan earned his B.A. and Master’s degrees in Photography from Brooks Institute of Photography in Santa Barbara, California. His platinum/palladium and inkjet prints are included in private and public collections internationally. Dan’s web site is www.DanBurkholder.com.
