Barron Snyder, photographer and programmer.

Barron Snyder participated in Stephen Johnson´s workshop last summer. I try to document a little the FocusOnNature workshops and to get images of participants at work with their cameras. It was difficult to get such an image of Barron. He walked around looking at everything from the horizon down to small details with the camera and tripod in hand and only after visualizing the motive, he put his eye to the viewfinder, focused and shot. Some of Barron’s images that where reviewed during critic sessions, are still stamped in my mind. Beautiful visualization and composition.

Stephen Johnson & Barron Snyder.

I had wanted to go to Iceland for several years because I had heard that the country was such a unique and beautiful place. My opportunity came when I stumbled upon the "Focus On Nature" website. Not only are great packaged trips offered but they're led by some of the world's finest photographers!

The logistics are taken care of by Icelandic locals who know their island intimately while I was left to focus on my photography. I can honestly say that I've never been to a more visually stunning area with such a wide range of subject matter than what Iceland has to offer.

Stephen Johnson, the photographer who led my trip, was always available to offer inspiration and constructive critique. The members of my group, a mixture of photo professionals and amateurs, were great travel companions and Einar Erlendsson and Guðmundur Ingólfsson, our local hosts, made the trip easy and enjoyable. Put Iceland at the top of your travel list and when you go, let the "Focus on Nature" team take care of the details.
