My journey:
I started years ago in my artistic journey as an oil painter and film photographer in Colombia, South America. I then dedicated over 25 years working in Graphic Arts as a designer until immersing myself in Digital Photography where I was able to experience a merging of my passion for painting, graphics and photography.
My vision of bringing these three important elements together was enhanced and ignited by Vincent Versace and John Paul Caponigro after years of studying and mentorship. Through my travels and capturing of images several bodies of work have evolved meeting a desire to make a statement in reference to Life and Art as an integral part of my expression.
Iceland became part of my life last summer, when I spent nine full days traveling and assimilating its beauty as well as capturing images that became part of my artistic expression. With the expertise of Focus on Nature's team it was a delightful and fruitful experience that produced the following Body of Work.
|
ALUMBRAMIENTO.
This Body of Work is titled ALUMBRAMIENTO. Alumbramiento is a word in Spanish that means to give light by giving birth. There is no word in the English language that captures this unique idea of the link that exists between the illumination and being born. The Aramaic idiom of being "born again" and the eastern idea of enlightenment both speak metaphorically of the awakening that "illuminates" the mind to the soul's true identity causing it to arise from its womb-like darkness into light and life.
The spiritual backdrop of this series of images is the inspiration that the personal and corporate illumination of consciousness is presently emerging in our world. The natural scenes drawn from the diverse landscape of Iceland are the metaphoric ground of human struggle from which Life emerges. This land of intense and rhythmic pressure, avails itself as the womb from which enlightened humanity, pictured here in the male form, emerges fully composed; his nature radiant in Source.
